2014 Dinner Photos

Hello again - Ambassador Quincy here -

They tell me it takes a lot to make an event successful. If that means getting my supper on time, I guess I'd agree. Add in some good toys, get me home in time for the Kenmure curfew and I'm a happy puppy. And that's just what happened!

It all started with Miss Sue (Musgrove), Miss (Mardi Booker) and their merry band of decorators and flower arrangers who made the Charleston Room sooooooooooo elegant.  Mister Dan (Lang) and Mister Dick (Roemer) helped by blowing up balloons with helium supplied by my special buddy, Mister Steve (Harbison). Sales for the Ten Treasures Raffle, Honor Board, Autobell and Garden Tour were held in the Sears Room at tables manned by chairpersons Miss Barbara (Holmes), Miss Edie (Lang), Miss Karen (Skelton), Miss Betty (Roemer) and Miss Marian (Hansen) respectively.  (Are you impressed that I know a big word like that? Just shows how good I'm getting at this writing thing.) The chefs and servers were busy with my favorite part, the FOOD. Mister Steve (DeWitt) and Mister Travis secretly posted the golf tournament winners while the veranda filled with guests.

When the bell rang for dinner, everyone headed to hear who won the golf and tennis tournament awards. Emcee, Mister David (Amsler) kept everything running smoothly as prizes were distributed by chairpersons Mister Burt (Weissman), Mister Bill (Johnson) and Miss Vicky (Bell). Miss Karen (Beer) announced the winner of the Joanne Jones Trophy.

Miss Susan (Bush) began her talk by asking all cancer survivors to stand. She then introduced the keynote speakers who described how the money we raise in 2014 will be used.  Miss Kim (Hinkelman) and Doctor Thomas (Eisenhower) spoke for Pardee and Miss Trinka (King) and Miss Denise (Burns) represented Park Ridge.

They were followed by a trio of Kenmure singers, Miss Damaris (Drewry), Miss Candace (Lewis) and Miss Kathy (Newbold), accompanied by Doctor Dewitt Tipton of Furman University. Mister D. R. (Kulp) was technical director (that means he got all the speakers and microphones working just perfectly!)

A delicious dinner was then served by the able Kenmure Country Club staff. (Steve Harbison was overheard stating that the main course for all 211 diners was distributed in 18 minutes!) Joe Pucilowski played jazz piano in the background.

Then it was time for door prizes – Bloomin’ Onion and Dinner certificate were donated by Outback Steakhouse, Kenmure martini glasses by Miss Carol and Mister George (Brown) and wine by the Kenmure Fights Cancer committee. Lots of people went home with lots of good stuff!  The evening closed with a song led by Miss Sue and Mister Don (Kauffman). And everyone was headed down the hill in time for the Kenmure curfew of 9:15 pm!

Thanks to Miss Donna (Johnson) for taking these perfect pictures!
