As per the Bylaws, The Kenmure Fights Cancer Board of Directors voted that 50% of the funds raised in the year 2023 be donated to AdventHealth Hendersonville Cancer Services.

This will be the 15th year that our funds have assisted cancer patients at AdventHealth Hendersonville. During that period, we have donated $423,146.38 for equipment and technology in the realm of patient care. Click for year-by-year donations.

Use of 2023 funds:

Breast Cancer: 3D imaging. In addition to the main hospital in Fletcher, AdventHealth reaches out to more rural areas in Western North Carolina. This project will take 3D imaging to those areas.

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Room at Park Ridge!

In January, 2015, Park Ridge (now Advent Health Hendersonville) opened The Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Room. The above plaque is at the entrance to the room and recognizes gifts from Kenmure Fights Cancer and The Cannon Foundation. The funds we raised helped create the room and buy the state-or-the-art machine (below).

The patient lays face down on the table which is then raised to a level where the surgeon can use the computerized equipment below.

When a problem appears on a regular mammogram, the patient returns to the hospital for further testing. Having this machine on site means he/she can get results quickly. Since waiting for results is exceedingly stressful, the value of the machine is emotional as well as technical.

On August 26.2013, Kenmure Fights Cancer was honored to receive the
Third Annual Dr. P.J. Moore, Jr., MD & Dr. Arthur A. Pearson, MD Award of Excellence.

Funds raised by Kenmure Fights Cancer are designated for equipment and technology in the realm of cancer care.

About Park Ridge Health (now Advent Health Hendersonville) Cancer Services

Park Ridge Cancer Services has been awarded national accreditation by The Commission on Cancer (COC) and the American College of Surgeons and also won the Outstanding Achievement Award for a first-time program.

In fact, Park Ridge Health is the first hospital in Western North Carolina to win this award and is one of only 66 other hospitals in the U.S. to obtain it.

This highly-coveted award is a tribute to physician and staff teamwork and has established Park Ridge Cancer Services as a leader in providing quality cancer care. To learn more, click here.

Hendersonville, N.C.(August 20, 2012)–"The Kenmure Fights Cancer committee presented Park Ridge Health with a gift of $17,300 on August 10 to support cancer care services. Nearly 15 members of the fundraising committee, including Committee Chair Kathrine Tims, were on-hand to present the check to Park Ridge Health President Jimm Bunch, Park Ridge Health Foundation Director Beth Davey and Diagnostic Imaging Director Todd Guffey.

Kenmure Fights Cancer's generous 2012 donation of $17,300 will be used for Park Ridge Health's purchase of a digital stereotactic breast biopsy unit.
  • This unit will be used by highly trained radiologists and breast surgeons to obtain biopsies that will enhance patient care.
  • Patients benefit greatly from this advanced technology because it pinpoints the exact location of breast microcalcifications or mass by using a computer and X-rays taken from two different angles. Using these coordinates, physicians can determine the exact location needed to perform a biopsy.

"We congratulate Kenmure Fights Cancer again for its commitment to cancer care in our Western North Carolina community," said Jimm Bunch, president and CEO of Park Ridge Health.

  • 'The Kenmure community has generously donated more than $61,000 since 2008 to help fund cancer-fighting equipment and related needs for cancer patients here at Park Ridge. These efforts are truly life-changing and life-saving.'" more...
